Wayne County Man No Longer Charged With Manslaughter in Mother's Death
A Huron man initially charged in connection with the death of his mother is no longer facing manslaughter charges.

According to the Wayne County District Attorney, a grand jury did not charge Daniel Burkwit for his mother's death. He is, however, being charged with tampering with evidence, a felony.

Burkwit's mother Marcia died in October at her Huron home. Prosecutors say Burkwit pushed her down the basement stairs, breaking her neck.

Two days after her death, deputies say Burkwit told them his mother had died and led them to a wooded area behind the home where he had taken her body and covered her in leaves.
