Murder Suspect & Visitor Charged with Promoting Prison Contraband
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office arrested a murder suspect and a person visiting him in jail for promoting prison contraband.

Sheriff's Deputies said jail deputies saw Kiara Bates, 19, of Rochester, passing contraband to Williams Wilkins, 20 also of Rochester, at a secured area of the Monroe County jail. Deputies said the searched Wilkins and found marijuana.

Deputies said they also later found bars of soup and five batteries tied together to form a weapon in Wilkins' personal property.

Wilkins faces two counts of promoting prison contraband, a class D felony. Bates faces one count of the same charge.

Bates is in jail on $5,000 cash bail. Wilkins is currently in jail; charged with second degree murder and robbery in connection with the death of Montre Bradley in Gates on August 31st.
