Sex Offender Who Spent Decades Behind Bars Heading Back to Prison
A Rochester man was sentenced Thursday to 33 months in prison and five years supervised release after being convicted of failing to register as a sex offender.

Attorneys say 80-year-old James "Willie" Kimble was a Level 3 sex offender after being convicted for the rape of a 17-year-old Rochester girl in 1981. He was also convicted for attempted rape in a case involving a six-year-old Rochester girl.

Kimble is the main suspect in an unsolved rape and murder case involving a blind Rochester woman in 1972.

He disappeared after being contacted by Rochester homicide detectives, and was found almost a year later living in Florida where he failed to register as a sex offender.

He was acquitted of murder charges in 2011, and was taken into Federal custody, where he remained in prison.
