Memorial Service for Woman Killed in Garment Strike
One hundred years ago this month garment workers were in the middle of a strike in Rochester.
Friday, current union supporters will hold a memorial service to observe the 100th anniversary of a young woman who was killed during that strike.
Newspapers at the time report Ida Breiman, 17, was shot and killed by a factory owner. It helped to bring labor groups together and eventually settle the strike, which involved about 10,000 garment workers.
The memorial service is being held at 3:30 p.m. at Breiman's grave in Stonewood Cemetery.
