A very happy birthday as Seneca Park Zoo's two male white rhinos, Bill and Rosco, celebrated their big day on Saturday.
The Seneca Park Zoo has found that these rhinos don't care for cake and other sweets. So, Bill and Rosco received a snowman for their birthdays this year.
There were touch table stations for visitors to learn about the white rhino. They are endangered in the wild. Having rhinos in captivity is an opportunity for the community to learn why it's so important to stay away from rhino products like ivory. Making the rhino less valuable is the key to saving their lives.
"These birthdays are another way for us to spread awareness about conservation messages and spread awareness about issues that these animals face in the wild," said Public Relations and Marketing Officer Kelli O'Brien.
Having an understanding of why white rhinos became endangered was an important part of the celebration.
