A local reverend announced his bid to run for City Council during a news conference Thursday.
Reverend Marlowe Washington of Christ Community Church is calling for the community to come together to help address issues in Rochester. He says he wants to improve neighborhood systems by bringing together neighborhood programs with schools.
Former mayor Bill Johnson will be chairing the campaign.
"This campaign is being called 'For the People' campaign. It's for the people, by the people, it's for the people, with the people," Washington said.
Washington is founder of the "You Bet I Told” campaign. It urges those who witness illegal activity to come forward.
