Philip Seymour Hoffmann of Fairport is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "The Master."

The film with a lot of momentum going into tonight is "Argo." It's a political thriller on the Iran hostage crisis. The film has already won the Golden Globe for Best Picture and several other guild awards.

"Lincoln" is another of the nine films nominated for Best Picture. Daniel Day-Lewis is considered to be the front runner for the Best Actor Oscar.

The awards will be hosted at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, formerly the Kodak Theatre.
