Monroe County Legislature to Vote on Gun Policy

By: YNN Staff

Monroe County Legislature to Vote on Gun Policy
Monday's the day votes will be placed on a democratic legislation to ban non-law enforcement guns from county office buildings.

It's the first county-level attempt at passing gun legislation since the tragedies in Newtown and Webster.

Monroe County Democrats introduced the new bill early this month. It would prohibit gun owners from carrying their concealed weapons inside county buildings.

Current policy says that anyone with a concealed carry permit, with the exception of County employees, is legally able to bring a gun into county owned or leased buildings.

The bill will be voted on Monday night during the meeting of the Legislature's Agenda/Charter committee.
