Town Board Sets Public Hearing Date for West Brighton Fire Plan

Town Board Sets Public Hearing Date for West Brighton Fire Plan
The Brighton Town Board is taking the next step in dissolving the West Brighton Fire District. At Wednesday night's meeting, the board set a date for a public hearing on the plan.

The proposal calls for the Henrietta Fire Department to provide services for the town. Currently, the Rochester Fire Department is filling that role.

In 2011, due to dwindling volunteer numbers, the town started looking to other fire companies to help. That didn't sit well with West Brighton volunteers, but town supervisor Bill Moehle feels this plan is a win-win situation.

"I think that's a plan that will provide good long term stability, quality fire service, and an opportunity for volunteers to still be involved in firefighting," said Moehle.

The public hearing will take place on April 10th.
