Greece Police Officer Honored For Helping To Save Five People From a Fire
The Greece Police Department held its annual Awards Ceremony. Thursday's event at the Greenleaf Country Club honored officers and citizens.

Chief Todd Baxter hosted the event.

The most prestigious award went to Officer Brian Schirmer, who was selected as the 2012 Greece Police Officer of the year. He was recognized for helping save five people from a fire on Pond View Heights last year.

Schirmer and another officer were in the area responding to a different call when they saw smoke. The two ran across the street and helped rescue the residence of the apartment.
