New Cab Service At Airport Called Into Question By Longtime Drivers
After more than thirty years in business, the taxi company serving the Greater Rochester International Airport has been put out of business. The Monroe County Airport Authority has contracted with a new company for airport cab service.

"To me, it's going to be a sense of sadness, to leave here after thirty years," said John Reynolds, Advance Airport cab driver.
He doesn't wear a suit to work, but for nearly three decades, Reynolds has driven those suits where they needed to go.
"We have nice customers. Out of 30 years, not one time have I ever had a rude customer."
But all that ended at the stroke of midnight Friday. That's when the airport's new contract began with Genesee Airport Taxi – a new division of the local Genesee Transportation.
"There is something seriously wrong here," said John Rigato, Advance Airport cab driver.
Drivers for Advance say the new company has too few cabs.
"You need at least 31 cars to handle all that traffic, and here's a man who's got so few cars... it wouldn't work," Rigato said.
Their attorney says experience should count, as well.
"We have over thirty drivers with about 600 years in cumulative experience. What we have here for Genesee Transport, is apparently a Craigslist ad, and it says that they're looking for drivers," said attorney James Doyle.
Genesee Transport says none of that is relevant, and that their 11 taxis are plenty.
"We were prepared to start this service. We were here at midnight, lined up and ready," said Jennifer Beyor, Genesee Transportation, Inc.
Advance is not saying if they'll pursue legal action. They only hope, somehow, they can get their jobs back.
"I don't know... it's like... this has been my home," Reynolds said.
YNN asked the airport for comment. The director was unable to meet with us but did provide a short statement:
"Service provided by Genesee Transportation, Incorporated is an important part of the airport's mission to provide a safe and efficient travel experience."
Genesee Transport moves forward as the full-time taxi service provider here.
