Two best friends were reunited Friday night after they have both been serving deployments overseas.
Major Brendan Rowe flew into Rochester Friday night after a year-long deployment in Iraq. His best friend, Captain Russell McNear, just returned to Rochester three days earlier from serving in Afghanistan.
The pair met through the ROTC program at RIT in 2000 and have been friends ever since. They say although they have limited time together, they're going to make the most of it.
Major Brendan Rowe said, "This is my first time back, this is my third year-long deployment, first time coming home seeing all my friends and family, so feels pretty good. I was actually pretty homesick and happy to be back in Rochester regardless of how cold it might be."
When asked about plans, Captain Russell McNear said, "A trash plate or two, couple beers, we'll be here for St. Patty's Day so a couple pints of Guinness are definitely on the schedule."
Major Rowe is home for two weeks before he heads back to serve six more months in Iraq and Captain McNear will head back to Afghanistan in a week and a half.
