More than 1,100 students competed in the Greater Rochester Odyssey of the Mind Regionals Saturday.
Teams of 5-7 students from kindergarten to 12th grade worked together to solve a problem and perform it. The problems ranged from vehicle or stuctural ones to creative performances.
Odyssey of the Mind is a volunteer-run organization.
On Saturday, 275 volunteers donated their time as 165 teams from Monroe and surrounding counties participated.
"There's things to be planned out, decisions to be made as a group, and they learn to get along with each other and work to accomplish a goal," said Sue Connolly, Region 14 Odyssey of the Mind Director.
Winners will be traveling to Binghamton for the State Tournament on March 23rd. From there, the top teams will move onto Michigan State University for the World Finals.
