"We go with what we know," said Lt. Jason Helfer.

What Greece police know is they're looking for a suspicious person in a suspicious SUV.

"We have two reported incidents."

The first happened last Wednesday on the 2000 block of Maiden Lane. A stranger – a bald man – approached a middle school-aged boy who'd just gotten off his school bus.

"The youth was nervous and upset which is understandable."

The second was on Monday. An elementary school student got off her bus near Beverly Heights and Willis Avenue. A person in a similar vehicle followed her for a short time.

"In both incidents, it was reported to be a red SUV."

Greece police are investigating.

"We're treating it very seriously; worst case scenario, especially when there's children at stake."

Though Lt. Helfer admits details, at this point, are vague.

"In both incidents, there were no overt actions reported, meaning there wasn't any physical attempt to grab anyone."

Police in Greece say they will continue to pay special attention to school bus stops in the town. They're asking anyone with any information about that suspicious vehicle to give them a call.

"There is an absence of facts to lead us one way or the other as far as what the intent of the individual driving the vehicle may be."

Answering that question is the goal now. That, and keeping kids safe, and putting parents minds at ease.

"We're doing everything we can to ensure the safety of the children and reassure the public we're doing everything we can."
