Police in Canandaigua are investigating the discovery of a body.

Police were called to a car fire around 12 p.m. Thursday in Woodlawn Cemetery on North Pearl Street. After firefighters extinguished the flames, they discovered human remains inside the vehicle.

"At this point, we don't know until the body is brought to the Monroe County Examiner's Office and further tests are done. At this point, all we confirm is that there were human remains found in the vehicle," said Chief Jon Welch of the Canandaigua Police Department.

Police in Canandaigua are being assisted by New York State Police to test the vehicle to find out how the fire started.

Police say foul play is not suspected.
