Rochester kicked off St. Patrick's Day weekend on Friday. Festivities lead up to the annual parade through the streets of downtown.
Parade officials expect a record number of participants this year with up to 3,000 marchers, including bands from the United States and Canada.
Unseasonably warm temperatures last year drew record crowds to the parade. It's expected to be about 50 degrees colder this year.
"I'm sure the crowds will be smaller. Last year, we heard numbers up to 200,000, so I'm sure we'll get 50,000 or better. Just be warm, be safe and just be responsible," said Brian O'Connor, St. Patrick's Day Committee president.
The St. Patrick's Day Parade begins at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at East Avenue and Alexander Street.
