Rochester Police Visit City Barber Shops
Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard stopped by a local barbershop Friday afternoon for a chat with city residents.
The Shop Talk event at Visions Barbershop gave men who normally wouldn't go to community meetings an opportunity to voice any concerns with the police department.
Chief James Sheppard said most people wanted to talk about violence in the city. He says he takes these issues seriously and works to address the problems.
Chief Sheppard said, "We take copious notes based on the information and conversations that we have and a lot of times those conversations will dictate our strategy as we move forward. This coming year as the weather changes we're gonna have a lot more officers out doing walking beats."
The Shop Talk program has been in place for about a year and a half.
Chief Sheppard says he looks forward to continuing to visit barbershops in the city as we head into the warmer months.
