For seven years now Rochester area churches, community leaders and government officials have gathered to Honor Israel.
Christians United for Israel holds annual nights in over 200 U.S. cities. Their support for Israel stems from the country's needs in the middle of a destabilized Middle East.
Since Rochester's first Honor Israel, $100,000 has been raised for humanitarian needs for the county and for Pro-Israel activities on area colleges. The organizer's main goal, while respecting differing opinions, is for unity against anti-semitism and for the existence of the state of Israel.
"The message is loud and clear. It comes out of here and it goes all over the world. It resonates in this room. It resonates in other parts of the Middle East. Israel is not alone," said Gil Lainer, Consulate General of Israel in New York.
The Consul said that the support of the United States has been essential in the positivity of Israel.
