According to the Rochester Fire Department, the fire started on the first floor of a home on High Street around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters were able to quickly control the fire, but damage spread to the second floor of the home. Smoke detectors alerted the residents, who were all out of the home when fire crews got there.

The Red Cross is helping two adults and five children with temporary housing.
