It gave local businesses a chance to highlight their products and services. Workshops and presentations also shared advice on customer service, attracting new customers, and overcoming challenges in a down economy.

"Access to capital now, which is very tight, in order to grow and to market and try to attract additional customers," said Dale Trott, Black Business Association president. "They're also looking at a downsized workforce to do more work."

The association also presented its annual Beacon Award to RIT management professor Delmonzie Smith for his contributions to the black business community.
