Wizard of Clay Getaway

By: Mike O’Brian

Wizard of Clay Getaway
Head to Route. 20A, Ontario County in the Finger Lakes and keep your eye out for a conglomeration of geodesic domes out in the middle of nowhere! You have found The Wizard of Clay.

Master potter Jim Kozlowski and his crew go through 100,000 pounds of clay every year to make vases, bowls, cups, pitchers, oil burning and electric lamps. They add to their inventory with new pottery every day.

When you visit, be sure to see the live demonstrations of pottery being created. The production workshop and retail outlet are both housed in the geodesic domes.

Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., every day of the week, year-round except for major holidays. Free to see.
