Earlier this week, YNN profiled a former Buffalo Bill who will play for the New Orleans Saints in Sunday night's Super Bowl.

But the Rochester area also has a strong connection to the Saints opponents: the Indianapolis Colts. Two local football players played with and against two of the Colts' biggest stars.

"If they don't have Peyton Manning on that team they're not the same team," said Scott Green of Canandaigua. "It's as simple as that."

You don't have to be a Colts fan to know Peyton Manning is pretty good.

"He was such a hard worker and such a great competitor," Greene said.

Greene is more than just a Manning fan, he's a former teammate. Greene played two seasons for the Colts, and was there when Manning was just a rookie QB.

"Obviously from his first year into his second year we made the playoffs," Greene said. "You knew from that point on he was going to be something special."

Another Colts player has also looked like something special this season. But before he was catching passes from Manning, Pierre Garcon was a star at Mt. Union.

"He's fast, that's all I really have to say," said former St. John Fisher defensive back Kenny Bostick.

Bostick lined up against Garcon when the Cardinals played Mt. Union in the 2006 and 2007 NCAA Division III Football playoffs. Even though Garcon helped end St. John Fisher’s season both years, Bostick is rooting for him.

"Every time I see him, if there are people who don't know, I tell them I covered him once or twice," Bostick said.

"My kids are definitely going to be rooting for him (Manning),” said Greene.

Greene retired from the NFL in 2000, but still feels like a part of Manning's football family.

"My oldest son Carson was born in Indianapolis," Greene said. "After the playoff game, the last year I was there, Peyton actually held him. So it was pretty neat to have those memories."

When Manning came to Rochester in 2006 to speak at the Rochester Press Radio Club Day of Champions Dinner, the two reconnected.

"We brought the helmet that I played with, he signed that," Greene said.

It's a relationship Greene knows he's lucky to have.

"He was a guy that I learned a lot from just in the short time I was around him," Greene added.
