5th Annual Tartan Day Held in Rochester
Saturday was the fifth annual Tartan Day in Rochester.

The event which celebrates Scottish heritage and culture was held at the Main Street Armory complete with live music and other traditional festivities like Celtic dancing and Scottish cuisine.

Bill Ritchie, Vice President of Scottish Heritage Society said, "We had a three day event. We had a band from Scotland play on Thursday, The Tannenhill Weavers came in and played a concert. On Friday night we have our annual Tartan Day dinner, which is typically our membership and friends and family that come out. We have a dinner and have a band, and we have some camaraderie."

Tartan Day commemorates Scotland's independence from England, which they received nearly seven hundred years ago on April 6th 1320
