A half million dollar gift helped clear the way for a major project in Auburn. The project should aid both Cayuga Community College and the Auburn City School District.
A gift from Dr. Joseph Karpinski will go towards a new 150,000 square foot artificial turf stadium complex at the college. It will be named the Karpinski Stadium.
The project also calls for artificial turf at the Auburn City School District's stadium, located on a neighboring plot of land.
The state will provide three million dollars in funding for the six million dollar project.
In addition to Karpinski's gift, the college says its launched a fundraising drive for the remaining two and a half million dollars.
