Puerto Rican festival organizers say they're disappointed to once again hold a news conference Monday morning to comment about violence that took place after the festival ended Sunday night.

Organizer Orlando Ortiz says there were more than 22,000 people at the festival, but only one arrest was made on site for disorderly conduct.

Police say the trouble happened later on the city's northeast side. There were traffic jams and celebrations that later led to bottle and rock throwing.

At least one police cruiser and one TV news truck were damaged.

Sixteen people were arrested for fighting and disorderly conduct; down from 28 arrests the year before.

"Some of the folks that tend to use this celebration as a springboard for disorder... it's unfortunate that some folks chose to do that. It is unfortunate. We have to deal with the aftermath. We have to be prepared, and we were. All in all, with half the arrests, less crowds out there and less disorder, I think it was a step in the right direction," said Deputy Chief Mike Wood of the Rochester Police Department.

"We had a very successful weekend and here I am Monday morning answering these questions about things I have no control over. We can only continue to work with RPD, the City of Rochester to brainstorm ways to be part of the solution," said Ortiz.

Organizers say despite the violence, they will continue to hold the festival.
