Victor Teacher Charged for Sexual Contact with Student

By: R News Staff

A Victor Senior High School art teacher is on administrative leave and faces charges of having inappropriate sexual contact with a student.

Ronald Bartlett
Ronald Bartlett, 49, of Penfield, is charged with forcible touching, sexual abuse in the third degree, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Court documents say Bartlett forcibly touched the 16-year-old female student on three separate occasions.

The allegations refer back to early April through late May of this year. The report claims Bartlett also inappropriately rubbed up against the girl.

In a statement Monday, the school said it became aware of the allegations on June 1 and immediately began its investigation with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Some people who knew or knew of Bartlett were skeptical of the allegations.

"I would say that Ron, I would trust him with any of my own children and basically he's always there for his children. And I would definitely have to question the student who is charging him with something as to their integrity and their purpose and motive behind it," said Beverly Garritano, Bartlett’s neighbor.

"It seems like every day something like this is happening somewhere right now in the public eye. I don't know, you almost seem to like be skeptical because so many times it seems to be being brought up," said Fritz Rupp, Victor parent.

According to the school's statement, Bartlett has been told to stay off school property.

Bartlett was arraigned in Farmington Town Court Monday.
